Bath Sports and Leisure Centre is set to reopen on Monday July 23 after an £8m refurbishment.

The pool and reception area are almost ready to go and are the last part of the revamp.

The gym and sports hall have been refurbished and there is a new ten-pin bowling facility, a trampoline park and two new fitness studios.

The swimming facilities have been given a revamp, including the full refurbishment of the main 25-metre pool and new teaching pool.

In addition, there is also an increased and improved range of play features in the centre’s leisure pool.

Members will be able to access the building through a new system.

Barnaby Rich, general manager at Bath Sports and Leisure Centre said: “We are delighted to announce the reopening of the pools at Better, Bath Sports and Leisure Centre.

“This comprehensive refurbishment programme will allow us to provide outstanding, accessible and affordable facilities for the community, to get more people, more active, more often.

“We recognise that due to a number of unforeseen challenges, delays to this project have inconvenienced our customers and for that we are very sorry. We’re confident that the new and improved facilities will have been worth the wait and look forward to welcoming visitors into new pools.”

Cllr Bob Goodman, Bath and North East Somerset Council’s cabinet member for neighbourhoods & development, said: “These fantastic new leisure facilities are a brilliant addition to the city. We’re already seeing loads of people, especially families, enjoying the trampoline park and tenpin bowling alleys; so I know the improved swimming facilities will be a huge hit too.

“We’re really grateful to everyone for bearing with us while we’ve been redeveloping Bath Sports and Leisure Centre to ensure it’s fit for the future. We look forward to welcoming even more people to get more active more often – from seasoned swimmers lapping up lengths of the main pool, to first-timers dipping their toes – it’s a great opportunity to take the plunge!”
