Nominations have started coming in for the Bath Sports Awards 2018.

It is a fantastic chance to celebrate the sporting greats, unsung heroes and heroines in and around the city - the clubs, coaches, sportsmen, women and children who have been top performers in the past 12 months.

There are nine categories open for nominations. They are Sports Personality of the Year; Young Sports Personality of the Year; Senior Team of the Year; Junior Team of the Year; Coach of the Year; Outstanding Services to Sport in Bath; Disability Sports Performer of the Year; Community Club of the Year and Professional Sports Personality of the Year.

The Outstanding Services award is being sponsored by Bath Ales.

Laura Hicks, Bath Ales’ beer brand manager, said: “As a local brewer and dedicated partner of Bath Rugby, we’re delighted to be sponsoring the Bath Sports Awards for a second year running.

“It is one of the true highlights of our city’s sporting calendar. The Outstanding Services award is the perfect opportunity to champion exceptional individuals and celebrate grassroots sports.”

Last year, the prize went to Bath Skyline Park Run, the organisers of which turn up every Saturday, whatever the weather, to host the free event enjoyed by hundreds every week.

Receiving the award, event director Helen Conner said: “It was so lovely just to be nominated and very unexpected to actually win it. I’ve got a core team of six people altogether and we volunteer every week, so it’s really a team effort.”

Assured Mobility will once again sponsor Disability Sports Performer of the Year, which went to Paralympic sprinter and world record-holder Sophie Kamlish in 2017. The title sponsor for this year’s awards is Stadium for Bath the body made up of Bath Rugby, Bath Rugby Foundation and Arena 1865, working together to deliver a new stadium at the Rec.

Bath Rugby CEO Tarquin Mcdonald said: “The Bath Sports Awards celebrate grassroots sport, from the clubs and coaches to the individual sportsmen, women and children out there making a real difference.”

Platinum Motor Group is getting behind the Professional Sports Personality category.

The awards ceremony will be held at The Assembly Rooms on Bennett Street, on the night of Tuesday, November 20.

Esteemed broadcaster John Inverdale will once again be our host.

The deadline for entries is Tuesday, September 4. To submit an entry and for more information, visit www.bathsportsawards.co.uk.
