USTINOV STUDIO

-

Bath’s Ustinov Studio has become the most successful small-scale producing theatre in the country and its seasons of world and UK premieres have received national acclaim.

Following previous highly regarded seasons of American drama, Laurence Boswell, Artistic Director of the Ustinov Studio, is putting together a thrilling season of contemporary work from the USA. So far announced is the brilliant black comedy, THE MODEL APARTMENT by Donald Margulies, one of America’s most respected and renowned playwrights, and Tanya Barfield’s extraordinary journey through the history of an African-american man and his ancestors, BLUE DOOR, which also features original songs.

In the Ustinov in the New Year, local company New Old Friends returns after a previous sell-out visit, with CRIMES ON THE NILE, a new comedy thriller which opens in Bath prior to a national tour.

The Ustinov Studio presents two plays to commemorate the anniversary of the end of the First World War. Michael Mears, who has visited Bath many times with the Peter Hall Company, returns with THIS EVIL THING, a compelling and inspiring story of the men who said ‘no’ to war. Bath-born performance poet and Glastonbury Poetry Slam Champion, Toby Thompson performs A DAY TO REMEMBER about The Battle of Aubers Ridge in which so many men from one town lost their lives.
