The theatre’s varied programme of daytime special events includes an afternoon with acclaimed naturalist and cameraman Gordon Buchanan recounting his amazing encounters with wildlife in ANIMAL FAMILIES AND ME; best-selling historian Max Hastings talks about his epic new work about the 20th century’s most devastatin­g conflict VIETNAM, and Alison Weir talks about her new novel based on the life of Henry VIII’S third wife, JANE SEYMOUR: The Haunted Queen.

Events during the 2018 Jane Austen Festival will include JANE AUSTEN AND MARRIAGE, in which Hazel Jones discusses her entertaini­ng study of the subject which formed the basis of Austen’s plots and Angela Barlow (Inspector Morse, Casualty, Bergerac) performs JANE AUSTEN AND THE IMPORTANCE OF AUNTS – a relative without whom no Austen novel would be complete.

Events organized by the Theatre’s Fundraiser­s, and open to the general public, include A HISTORY OF PERFUME an informal talk with Istvan Schuller of Guerlain who is based in Jolly’s, and the popular annual festive event, CAROLS BY CANDLELIGH­T.

As part of the Engage programme of events for adults, WHERE WE ARE NOW is a song-cycle performed by TRB Engage; THIS PERFECT WORLD is a futuristic drama performed by a new adult group, Hive, and Lee Lyford directs LEGACY, a compelling drama about righting wrongs performed by Theatre Royal Bath Theatre School.
