YOUNG GYMNASTS EXCEL AT COMPETITION IN MALTA
Baskerville’s girls shone overseas at the Malta International Competition.
11-year-old Molly Hibbertdavies dominated her competition, beating 61 gymnasts to become over-all champion in the aged 10-12 category.
Molly also received a spectacular gold medal on beam after a confident performance and a silver medal on floor.
12 year-old Isobel Martin competed in an age category above and despite being one of the youngest she was crowned aged 13-15 champion in a division of 20 gymnasts.
Isobel excelled on floor and beam earning a silver medal on both pieces of apparatus following beautifully executed routines.
Nine-year-old Gracie Hurd celebrated becoming aged 7-9 champion. In a division of 23 gymnasts she also picked up a gold medal for her high energy floor routine and a silver medal on beam. Gracie alongside teammates 11-year-olds Isobel Dixon and Molly Hibbertdavies and 10 year-olds Amelie Rushforth and Isabella Mori also finished in a brilliant second place in the team competition receiving a big trophy to keep at the gym.
The youngest of the gymnasts, eight-year-old Hattie Stone performed a stunning beam routine which saw her finish in third place as well as coming in a very respectable sixth place overall. Eight-yearold Eva Bentley finished inside the top 20 in 16th place, this was her first time competing in Malta.
Eleven-year-old Phoebe Kirkwood Marshall finished inside the top 30 in the largest division of the competition containing 62 gymnasts whilst 10-year-old Rosie Stone finished in 43rd place with an excellent score on bars.
The girls stayed in Malta for six days with elite coaches Fran Ince and Rachel Down, Fran said ‘I couldn’t be more proud of the gymnasts for their achievements on the International Stage. The girls blew me away and I am delighted with the results.’
