Five-star Larks thrashing

Larkhall Athletic were big winners as they stuck five past Cambrian & Clydach on their pre-season travels in Wales, with Ross Beazer and Lewis Powell among the scorers, before a 1-1 draw with Wells City. Bitton, meanwhile, played host to Bristol City for the Robins’ annual community match. There were 1,758 in attendance at the WDS Legal Services Stadium as the EFL outfit came away with a 4-0 victory. The Ton then trumped Paulton Rovers 3-0 on Tuesday with goals from Mario Mateus, Josh Egan and Ben Bament. Odd Down romped past Mendip Broadwalk 4-0 as Anthony Conradi, Kyne Norris, Ash Mcgrane and Charlie Wiles-richards netted. Corsham Town lost 2-0 to Southern League Highworth Town and 1-0 to Wroughton in their opening friendly games, but beat Trowbridge Town 6-1. Bradford Town downed Almondsbur­y 3-1 on the back of a 2-0 home triumph against Chippenham Park. Keynsham Town will face a long trek to Bodmin Town when their FA Cup adventure gets under way in the extra preliminar­y round. This season’s FA Cup begins on Saturday, August 11, and will also see Odd Down venture to Cornwall and face Saltash United. Bradford Town host Roman Glass, while Tavistock are due to visit Bitton. Two weeks later in the preliminar­y round, Larkhall Athletic will enter – handed a road trip to Western League side Hengrove Athletic. Bradford Town could host Paulton Rovers if they defeat Roman Glass, with one of Brislingto­n or Cadbury Heath the reward for Keynsham, should they win. In the FA Trophy, Larkhall will host Thame United in the Preliminar­y round on October 13. The FA Vase first qualifying round will see Odd Down at home to Shepton Mallet, Bitton travel to Chippenham Park, Corsham Town entertain Laverstock & Ford, and Keynsham host Sidmouth Town. Those ties will be played on Saturday, September 1. Bradford Town have been given a bye straight to the second round proper.
