Get on my land and come to Valley Fest

-

We are partnering with local business Yeo Valley over the next few weeks, to bring you a series of features about how the company brings visitors to Somerset and helps to tell the world why the land of the summer people is such a magical place. And nothing quite creates that message like Valley Fest. Set in the heart of the Mendips in tranquil surroundings overlooking Chew Valley Lake, the festival celebrates food, farming, music and all the rich spoils Somerset has to offer. Taking place from August 3-5, the team are set to invite thousands onto the farm, with Farmer Luke’s message resounding across the lush green fields ‘Get On My Land!.’ Luke Hasell started the festival in 2014 as a tribute to his parents who sadly both passed away and left him in charge of the farm when only in his 30s. They were passionate fundraisers and loved a good knees up, so Luke took the opportunity to put on an event that would both encompass their love of life and the land, and raise money for charity. The partnership with Yeo Valley started in 2016 making it’s mark as the UK’S best organic food festival. It all takes place on The Community Farm, a local organic veg box delivery scheme that is a cooperative owned by 500 people in the community including Luke who owns the land. The Community Farm runs workshops throughout the weekend such as foraging, forest school, bee talks and farm tours to give visitors a taste of farming life and what organic is all about. As part of the celebration of farming and food, the incredible feasts have become a firm favourite, as sharing good food and laughter together is a big part of the ethos of the festival. With Yeo Valley Canteen putting on a sumptuous banquet on Friday night, and the decadent Midnight Feast on Saturday and the delightful communal Sunday Picnic – where festival goers are treated to a picnic prepared and served by top chefs. Tickets for the weekend are £110 for adults and start at £15 for children with kids aged two and under going free. Tickets and further information on the website – www.valleyfest.co.uk
