Only six days remain to nominate your sporting heroes for this year’s Bath Sports Awards. We want to hear about the best, brightest and most committed of our city’s sporting scene, whether they are breathtaking talents on the pitch or the most dedicated of individuals off it. The glitzy awards night, which will return to The Assembly Rooms in central Bath on Tuesday, November 20 this year, are a chance to celebrate the sporting greats, unsung heroes and heroines in and around the city – the people who have been top performers in your eyes over the past 12 months. Veteran broadcaster John Inverdale is lined up to once again play host for the evening. But time is running out to make sure your nominations make the cut – the deadline for entries is next Tuesday, September 4, at midnight – and our judges don’t want to miss out on any candidates. Once again there are nine categories open for nominations. They are Sports Personality of the Year; Young Sports Personality of the Year; Senior Team of the Year; Junior Team of the Year; Coach of the Year; Outstanding Services to Sport in Bath; Disability Sports Performer of the Year; Community Club of the Year and Professional Sports Personality of the Year. The title sponsor for this year’s awards is Stadium for Bath – the body made up of Bath Rugby, Bath Rugby Foundation and Arena 1865, working together to deliver a new stadium at the Rec. Bath Rugby CEO Tarquin Mcdonald said: “The Bath Sports Awards celebrate grassroots sport, from the clubs and coaches to the individual sportsmen, women and children out there making a real difference. “Sport plays a fundamental role in our communities. It brings people together and removes socioeconomic barriers. “It talks a language that we all understand and has the power to make a profoundly positive impact on people’s lives.” Bath Ales is sponsoring the Outstanding Services award and Platinum Motor Group is getting behind the Professional Sports Personality category. Assured Mobility is getting behind the Disability Sports Performer category for another year. David Eatwell, director at Assured Mobility, said: “We are proud to sponsor the Bath Sports Awards. We provide products and services that help the less mobile and disabled stay as independent as possible.” To submit an entry and for tickets for the awards ceremony, visit www.bathsportsawards.co.uk.
