No Knocking Cook’s latest efforts

-

At the eighth round of the British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill in Scotland, Bath’s Josh Cook was back on track in his Powermaxed Tag Racing Vauxhall Astra. He started his first race, which was held in very wet conditions and with standing water in a couple of places on the track, from tenth on the grid and by the 14th lap of 27 had worked his way up to seventh. At that stage Cook had set the fast- est lap of the race despite 21kgs of Ballast. On lap 20 BMW driver Stephen Jelley was hit by Colin Turkington and span out of the race, which also saw the safety car deployed and Cook promoted to sixth. When the safety car returned to the pit lane Cook was in a great dice with Toyota driver Tom Ingram for fifth, which he gained with three laps to go at the hairpin as he passed Ingram and held on to this position until the flag. Cook started an eventful second race from fifth on the grid with 39kg of ballast. Heavy rain saw the safety car deployed twice and the race was red flagged on lap 20, by which time Cook had just managed to notch fourth one lap before, along with the fastest lap of the race in a time of 57.75secs and a speed of 78.07mph. After this race first-placed Ashley Sutton and second-placed Tom Ingram were excluded from the results due to ride height infringements on their cars, which promoted Andrew Jordan and Cook to first and second places. Despite 48kg of ballast and being hit sideways by Rory Butcher and returning to the track in seventh place, Cook caught and retook Butcher for sixth in his third outing and is currently in fifth with two rounds to go.
