‘Nothing suspicious’ about man’s death

-

The death of a man was found at a property in Bath on Sunday is being treated as “unexplained” but is not believed to be suspicious. The body of a man in his 20s was found around 10.30am in Church Street in Weston. Officers who initially attended the flat reported feeling unwell and the property was searched for an unknown chemical. Police, ambulance and fire rescue services were called at around 2.30pm on Sunday to Weston High Street and closed the road near the King’s Head. Jon Stell, duty inspector from Avon and Somerset police, said at the time there was a “possibility of hazardous substances in the house” and that it was “contained in the flat”. A spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said at the time: “As a precaution and because some officers felt unwell after going into the property a search of the property was undertaken by fire officers. “We believe there may be a chemical which has been contained in the flat and there is no risk to the wider public from this isolated incident.” At 4.30pm, more fire fighters went into the property with protective clothing to run tests and make the property safe. Officers spoke to people in parked cars and at the nearby pub. A spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said: “The address in Bath has been checked by fire crews and CSI and nothing of concern has been found. “No-one else has reported feeling unwell. “Contrary to rumours no properties in the street have been evacuated. “We will continue to progress the death as unexplained but nonsuspicious.”
