A real sense of achievement

From fitness classes to cooking and inspirational talks - Achieve has something for everyone

-

NEXT weekend, TV property guru and star of Homes under the Hammer, Martin Roberts is coming to Bristol for the second annual Achieve event. Taking place at Brunel’s Old Station (The Passenger Shed) on Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14, this event makes for an ideal family day out come rain or shine. There is plenty to do, see and soak up at this health, wealth and happiness weekend with something for everyone. High profile names and celebrities are coming together to promote the importance of wellbeing, as well as give the city of Bristol some inspiration and help to improve their lives. As well as lots of talks from people such as Gregg Wallace, Helen Lederer, Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards and Nigel Owens, there is an abundance of activities to keep you and your family entertained. There are a range of hands-on events, fitness classes and cooking, and baking masterclasses across the weekend. Join Gregg Wallace and Christine Bailey in the kitchen to rustle up something tasty, or join in with a drum and bass workout, some high-intensity yoga training or even a ‘Strutology’ class in the fitness studio. Getting out and about and being active with your family is massively beneficial to your’s and your loved ones’ health and wellbeing. Plus, under 16s go free. Felicity Evans is one of the speakers at the event and works to understand the behaviours, emotions and mindset of the children of today. Felicity describes herself as a “wellbeing PA”. When asked about what her job title is and what it entails, she tells the story of a girl called Megan. “I was going to meet a young girl called Megan who had spent 18 months in hospital after having mental health problems. When I was walking in I thought who shall I say I am,” says Felicity. “I’m not a therapist and I’m not a teacher. I didn’t want her to see me as somebody who is authoritarian. I wanted to support her and make life easier for her.” From Megan’s release from hospital, Felicity helped her get her life back on track and get her mental age back up to speed. “I worked with her and her parents, and organised her regime. I also help organise meal times, learning, most importantly I put in a natural health programme which gets rid of toxins,” explains Felicity. It took just one year to get Megan’s life back to normality. Felicity is able to achieve these results from her years of experience running Nature Kids - an outdoor therapy programme for kids. Here she goes back to the core of the problem by using a combination of experience, understanding of psychology, therapeutic support and techniques such as the observation of primitive reflexes which are often the root of the problem for a child. She is now able to pass on her wisdom and advice via methods such as speaking at Achieve and writing her second book. Felicity will be speaking on both days at Achieve, giving an audience a tailored talk called The Magic of Achievement. She invites people to attend her talks and to speak one-on-one if you spot her at the exhibition. “I think it [Achieve] is a great idea because it’s focusing on the positives, we look at what works and give the people the opportunity to change it, even if they just want to improve something like sport, yoga or relaxation,” said Felicity. “It’s great to address and give these opportunities. “I particularly like taking my child along to things like this. My son went to events like Achieve since he was four and that massively helped his development. “I think it’s really nice that somebody or a group of people can come together and say they want to change things. When we all come together I truly believe that we can make a difference. “And ultimately, when you feel good on the inside, you achieve more on the outside.”
