First Bus on U2

-

“Demand for our new U2 service has greatly exceeded our expectations. This has brought about very serious capacity problems and it is clear that the existing level of service is not adequate to carry all the people who want to travel. We are working flat out on how we can summon up extra buses and drivers to deal with capacity issues on U2, which are exacerbated because it has taken the place of dedicated school buses that used to be provided by other operators last year. A further problem is the closure of Brougham Hayes for lengthy roadworks has meant people who might have used U1 have chosen to use U2. “This position is clearly unacceptable but the issue we are wrestling with is how to fix it? While we fully acknowledge the need for more capacity on the U2 service during peak journeys, we don’t have immediate access to the resources we need to deal with the problem. Our Bath operations are operating at maximum capacity and we are using every driver and vehicle available to us to operate our services. We therefore advise U2 passengers who over the past few days struggled to get to their destination in time to allow more travel time or make alternative travel arrangements. We realise this is far from ideal, but we hope that us providing clarity to passengers allows them to plan accordingly. We apologise for the impact this has on journeys. “We are looking at how we can hire in extra vehicles from other operators in order to double-up on the capacity. It will take some days to achieve this.”
