Ollis hits treble in big Keynsham win

-

A James Ollis hat-trick helped Keynsham Town to a 6-2 thrashing of Longwell Green Sports. The Bath City loanee bookended the contest with the first and last goals, nodding his side in front before Sports drew level. Craig Wilson had the Ks back in front, with a Cameron Shorney cracker handing them a 3-1 lead come the interval. Ollis also netted the first goal after half-time, followed by a 30-yard lob from Matt Box. Longwell Green nabbed another back, but Ollis ensure the spotlight was firmly his by finishing off the hosts’ sixth goal for his hat-trick. Elsewhere in the Toolstation League First Division, Corsham Town rose to fifth with a 1-0 home triumph over Chard Town, earned through a Josh Bright goal. In the top flight, Bitton made it five wins from as many league games, but were pushed all the way in a 3-2 victory over Hallen. It was Hallen, managed by former title-winning Odd Down boss Ray Johnston, that went in front, only for an immediate Ton leveller by Josh Egan. Goals from Ben Harris and Kane Ingram then had Bitton in command after the break, though Daryl Charman’s goal set up a grandstand finale from which they would hold out. However, Bitton were handed only their second defeat of the season in midweek as they lost 2-0 to Plymouth Parkway in the Les Phillips Cup. Non-league veteran Stewart Yetton had Parkway in front at halftime before Ben Joyce killed the contest in the final ten minutes. Odd Down triumphed 3-1 on the road at Chipping Sodbury in midweek. Ritchie Chandler, Brandon Benjamin and George Lloyd got their goals in a bounceback from Saturday’s result. At the weekend, ten-man Down lost out 3-1 to Cribbs, despite taking an early lead with an Ash Mcgrane header. Dan Spicer equalised for Cribbs, who then watched Down’s Lewis Dunn trudge back to the changing rooms for a second yellow card. Marcus Kelly and Charlie Aldom scored the goals to hand Cribbs the win. Shepton Mallet ended their seven-game losing streak by scoring a 2-1 away win at Bradford Town, who scored through Dan Price in the last minute.

■ Southern League

Larkhall Athletic lost out 2-1 at home to Cirencester Town in a Division 1 South defeat. Ben Whitehead got both goals for Cirencester, scoring once in each half with the second a penalty. Lewis Powell had dragged Larks level 11 minutes into the second period, before Whitehead struck from the spot to hand his side the win. Athletic were due to host Melksham Town in the Southern League Cup last night.

■ Somerset League

League leaders Fry Club maintained their post atop the Premier Division courtesy of a 3-1 triumph against Stockwood Wanderers. It was a Kris Allen brace that did much of the damage, with Jack Neil also on target for the Somerdalebased outfit. At the other end, Odd Down Reserves remain without a point having lost 3-1 at Worle on Saturday, Daniel Taylor scoring their only goal. Saltford had their game at Bridgwater Town Reserves abandoned. The Runts had been leading 3-1 at the time, with Bridgy reduced to just seven men in the Division 1 clash. New father Jem Lutwana got the only goal as Timsbury Athletic picked up a belated second win of the season by beating Uphill Castle 1-0. Keynsham Town Reserves drew 3-3 at Long Ashton. In Division 2, Peasedown Miners Welfare crushed Weston St Johns 6-0, while Fry Club Reserves were edged out 1-0 by their counterparts at Street. Tom Young netted for Tunley Athletic in a 3-1 home loss to Chew Magna in Division 3. ■ Corsham Town Reserves picked up a win and a loss in the last week of Wiltshire League action. Last Wednesday saw a Philip Baker brace down Devizes Town Reserves 2-1, before a 2-0 weekend loss at Melksham Town Reserves.
