Firm’s warning on energy price cap

-

Bath-based energy firm Pure Planet has warned people not to be “fooled” by the Government’s energy price cap, insisting buying energy locally will be on average £300 cheaper than the cap. Entirely app-based, Pure Planet offers its service using artificial intelligence and provides energy at wholesale prices. The company, which was founded in Bath just over a year ago, is part of a new breed of modern, independent energy suppliers, Pure Planet is competing directly with the ‘Big Six’ energy firms, including British Gas, EDF and EON. Co-founder Steven Day said: “Ofgem’s price cap risks luring people into a false sense of security with their energy bills. “The figure Ofgem talk about is only for the hypothetical medium user. It is not an upper limit or an all you can use tariff for the price. So beware. The cap will vary, according to how much you use. “Suppliers like Pure Planet enable customers to switch to fresh clean renewable energy for £200 less than the cap, and customers in our hometown of Bath will benefit from a £25 discount when they join with a local postcode. “We’d encourage all consumers to seek out not only better prices, but cleaner energy which is better for our planet. With a modern, app-based provider like us you can not only save your wallet but also the environment by switching in just a minute.” The company says being a smart, digital business is at the heart of Pure Planet’s ethos and by using technology to make efficiencies results in savings and better deals. Residents must apply before November 10 to be eligible for the £25 discount.
