Plans begin for Christmas lights display
Work will soon begin to put up Christmas lights across the Bath and North East Somerset district. The festive features will be installed in the centre of Bath, Combe Down, Larkhall, Weston, Keynsham, Midsomer Norton and Radstock between October 15 and October 18, with the lights being turned on in the weeks following. The lights are being supplied by Blachere Illuminations UK Ltd, which has managed projects in such illustrious places as Disneyland, Monaco and Harrods. As in previous years, B&NES is providing the tree in Bath Abbey Churchyard and at the Hollies Garden in Midsomer Norton. Councillor Paul Myers, cabinet member for economic and community regeneration, said: “For many people the countdown to the festive season starts as soon as the Christmas lights are turned on. “We need to ensure they are put up in good time so the work doesn’t impact other events, such as Bath’s Christmas Market.” The lights in Southgate will be illuminated on November 15 in time for the Christmas Market, which takes place from November 22 to December 9.
