Several Bath businesses are among those shortlisted for the 2018 Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards. Entries for the awards, sponsored by Bristol Airport, broke previous records with a 30 per cent increase over the previous year. Alongside the regular categories of various types of accommodation and restaurants are two special awards for The Age UK Somerset Age Friendly Tourism Business and The Bob Smart Learning Experience of the Year. The finalists will have to wait until the awards ceremony at the Apex Hotel, Bath, on November 15 to find out whether they will win bronze, silver or gold. Nigel Scott, business development director, from Bristol Airport said: “The high number and quality of entries shows the strength of the visitor economy in Bristol, Bath and Somerset. It also makes the achievement of these fantastic finalists even more special. It is no surprise that thousands of overseas tourists visit the West of England every year. We are proud to be the gateway region for this wonderful part of the world.” Awards organiser Nell Barrington, said she was thrilled at the number of entries. She said: “The awards really showcase the diversity of the tourism offering in this area and it is great to give recognition to those businesses that truly go above and beyond to ensure visitors have a great time.”
