Screamers galore in Sunday League

Kingsmead picked up their first win of the Bath & District Sunday League season, but they had to do it the hard way against a stubborn Bath United outfit in torrential rain at the Sulis Club.

It took until the 37th minute for Kings to open the scoring in a 3-1 success when John Dolman’s terrific free-kick came back off the post, allowing Nick Bishop to easily tap in the rebound.

It was Dolman’s last involvement as within a minute he received a harsh second yellow card for time wasting, leaving the hosts to play the remainder with ten men.

But Gary Mcdermott added a second with a sensational solo goal. Weaving in and out past four opponents, he finished by delicately poking the ball past David Stevenson to double their lead.

The Stan Milsom Cup holders made it 3-0 just before the end through Jack Wyatt, with another Jack – Rowlands – nicking a consolation with almost the last kick

Elsewhere in Division 1, Pig & Fiddle continued their good start with a 7-0 win over Atletico Bath.

Louis O’shaunessy led the rout with a cracking finish from the edge of the box before Ismael Faraco curled a 30-yard screamer into the top corner from a direct free kick. In the second half five well-crafted team moves were finished off by Simon and Martin Smith, Cruize Bogle, Faraco and Barney Smith to seal a ruthless display

Atletico New Inn moved top on goal difference, coming from behind to overcome Heritage 2-1. Jac Humphreys gave the visitors an interval lead, but Craig Parsons and Mark Richards struck back for New Inn, who maintain their 100 per cent record.

Dribuild and FC Trinity also boast perfect starts in Division 2. The former defeated Griffin and Westwood 3-1, while Trinity won 4-1 at Radstock, thanks to Jake Peard (2), Tom Lakeman and Sam Mason.

A Little Different picked up their first win, edging past Roman Bathelona 2-1 at Odd Down.

Four games took place in Division 3, which saw Bear Flat recover from their cup exit last week to stun FC Estrella in a 6-0 success at Lansdown. Three goals in each half did the damage, Tom Smith hitting a hat-trick with Liam Davies, Taz Rai and Will Hegarty also contributing.

Olympic Victoria kept their fourth clean sheet of the season in a 3-0 win over Farrington. Chris Rogers, Jordan Pepper and an own goal earned them another success.

FC Brewhouse came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with GLF Panthers. Neil Monaghan and Max Bendall secured a point for Paul Long’s men after Connor Morpurgo and Anton Bright netted for the students. Lansdown consigned Two Weir to a third defeat in four matches. Luke Short notched Two Weir’s goal in a 2-1 loss.
