Bounds of the Baskervilles
Young gynastics stars earn silver medal at competition
Baskervilles’ B League Girls earned themselves the silver medal in Division Three of the West Country League after a series of well executed routines. 15-year-old Pearl triumphed on both vault and bars, leading her to two golds and a third place finish overall.
Teammate Molly placed just behind Pearl in a very respectable fourth and, after a graceful bar routine, she also took home a bronze. Phoebe earned herself a gold following a powerful floor routine. Isobel and Amelie both contributed four neatly performed routines, helping their team to second.
In the A League Division Two, Ella, Hattie, Roami, Eva and Matilda displayed their most confident team competition of the season, leading them to third. Nine-yearold Matilda wowed the judges throughout the day to earn silver overall, to add to her collection she also clinched second on vault.
Matilda’s training partner Ella produced wonderful routines on all four pieces of apparatus, her expressive floor routine earned her silver, a neatly executed vault placed her within the top five and a third place finish overall. Teammate Eva accomplished a top ten finish overall alongside Roami and Hattie, who scored above ten on every event.
Baskervilles’ A League gymnasts shone at the competition held at Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club. The girls earned themselves a team bronze after competing in Division Three alongside six other clubs. Lucy, Phoebe, Hanka and Aine all placed inside the top 15 overall. Teammates Tabitha and Isabella produced four brilliant routines, both scoring highly on floor exercise.
Coaches Fran and Rachel were delighted with the success and were immensely proud of all their gymnasts.
