Fitting date for maiden win

-

Team Nathan got their season up and running with a stunning attacking display against Atletico Bath. On the fourth anniversary of twoyear-old Nathan’s passing, the side named in his honour were 4-0 up inside 26 minutes with goals from Tom Rosevear, Tai Warren, Troy Stubbs and Gary Jones. Atletico were then reduced to ten men, Tony Bennett seeing red for violent conduct, but they pulled one back on the hour through Joe Sardo. Jack Foxwell and Dan Smith also netted for the visitors, but it meant little as at the other end Warren, Jones, Rosevear and Stefan Woods rattled in four more, enabling them to collect their first win of the campaign. It was the only game in the division with the County Cup occupying others. Odd Down progressed past holders Hamilton 7-6 on penalties after a 1-1 draw, Liam Wynne performing heroics by saving three in the shootout. GT and Bath United also progressed in all-bath ties, defeating Heritage and AFC BAS respectively, a Jack Rowlands screamer helping United reach the last eight. Kingsmead, Olympic Victoria and Farrington Albion bowed out though. Cutters Friday ran out 3-0 winners at the Sulis against last year’s runners-up, Vics lost by the same scoreline at New Foresters and Mariners proved too strong for Farrington, a 6-0 victory in Taunton. In league action, A Little Different pulled away from the bottom of Division 2, leapfrogging Griffin and Westwood with a 4-0 success. Goals from Nathan Baker, Martin Haig, Lewis Pristo and Martin Lewis did the damage. Roman Bathelona also claimed a clean sheet, scoring twice against Claverton through Darren Chitty and Jack Kitchener. At the other end of the table, Dribuild returned to winning ways, 5-1 against previously unbeaten FC Trinity. Bear Flat completed the double over Welton Rangers in Division 3. Tom Smith collected a hat-trick in the 7-3 win, with Liam Davies (2), Josh Spanswick and Saxon Basson also contributing. Two Weir Town squandered an 85th-minute penalty against Brewhouse, denying them their first win of the season. They did pick up a point though with Mike Francis on target, Brew netted through Neil Monaghan.
