the whole of Whoville excitedly looks forward to the christmas season under the aegis of the Mayor (voiced by Angela Lansbury), who has decreed that this year’s celebrations should be three times grander than usual.
everyone except for the Grinch (cumberbatch), who lives in a cave overlooking the town with his trusty pooch Max.
the Grinch despises the festive season as a result of trauma in his childhood and he despairs that townsfolk including Bricklebaum (Kenan thompson) are full of Yuletide cheer.
consequently, the Grinch resolves to destroy christmas for Whoville by dressing up as Santa claus and stealing all of the decorations, trees and presents on christmas eve.
Meanwhile, down in the town, little cindy Lou Who (cameron Seely) hatches a plan to capture Santa claus so she can ask the man in red to grant her wish: to ease the workload of her single mother donna Lou Who (Rashida Jones).
