Football fest for pupils

-

Thirty players from Bathford Primary, St Saviour’s Juniors and St John’s Catholic Primary met on the St Mark’s astroturf for an end-ofterm football festival. Teams played two matches each with St Saviour’s coming out on top with two wins, while Bathford had one victory. The matches took place on oversized pitches so that all could play. This in turn led to lots of space for St John’s (blues) and St Saviour’s (reds), who competed alongside Bathford Primary in the St Mark’s Primary Football Festival players to show their different skills. Brendan Rouse of the East Bath Sports Cluster was especially pleased that there were five girls taking part, all of whom took prominent roles. The star players were the goalkeepers, who bravely threw themselves around to keep the scores lower than expected as there were so many shots on target. St Saviour’s scored five goals in each of their wins, St Johns replying in their game, while Bathford overcame St Johns 2-0 in the other game.
