Number of park trees grows as friends group plants 200

-

During National Tree Week last week, Friends of Moorlands Park teamed up,with the parks department and planted over 200 trees in the central field of Moorlands Park. The Friends of Moorlands Park Group, which started in April 2017, work in conjunction with the parks department of the council to raise the profile of the park, increase its use and look after it and protect it as a valuable green space. The group aim to develop this central field into a wildlife area. Early next year they hope to plant wild flowers suitable for the field. They have also been busy fundraising and have succeeded in raising money for a set of goal posts to be put up early next year. On December 7, Friends of Moorland Park are holding their first Carols by Candlelight event at 6:30pm in the play area of the park. Friends of Moorland Park are always looking for new members of the committee. For more information email friendsofmoorlandspark@gmail.com to either join the committee or receive newsletters.
