Public must have its say on Brexit deal

-

Theresa May is asking the British public to get behind a Brexit deal for which she has no mandate, as it fails to live up to the expectations of both Leavers and Remainers and will adversely affect all of our lives. We were once told that “No deal is better than a bad deal” but, now that the Government understands more about what “no deal” means, we are told that “any deal is better than no deal” and we must avoid the “cliff edge” as people will die if we don’t. It is difficult to believe that the UK would have voted to leave the EU had we known that this would be the outcome but Mrs May shows no interest in finding out whether or not that is the case. The public must be allowed to say whether remaining in the EU is actually a better option, now that we know what leaving looks like. The experience of the last few years has shown that many politicians are out of touch with the people they serve and we cannot rely on them to do what is right for our country. If Brexit is not delivering what you expected, please write to your MP and to Mrs May, reminding them that democracy is a process that did not end on June 23, 2016, refusing to be blackmailed into accepting this miserable deal and demanding a say on your future.
