Beware of parking charges at ground

Bath Chronicle - - OPINION -

We recently parked at the cricket ground. Having paid by credit card at one of the two ticket machines, we received neither ticket nor receipt. We then switched to the other machine and promptly got ticket as well as receipt. Since we had found the information about how much to pay in the evening a little confusing, we decided that the £3.10 we had put in initially would not cover the time required and paid £4.50 on our second attempt. We have just received a parking fine of £100, £60 if you pay within a fortnight. I should have written and claimed back the £3.10 and maybe could have avoided this situation! A woman who parked at the same time and had also paid just £3.10 got so nervous about the experience that she decided to park in the road instead. I always keep my tickets and receipts for four weeks after parking as I’ve had an unpleasant experience overstaying the 20 minutes at Accident & Emergency last year. Luckily I can prove that I did pay the correct amount but what a waste of my time! Renate Peter
