They say you can’t win any­thing with kids, well Bath­ford A are buck­ing that trend in the Bath Ta­ble Ten­nis League. Their 30-1 vic­tory in the Premier Di­vi­sion, against Yat­ton Keynell A, saw teenagers Leon Kash­dan­brown and William Avery record max­i­mums along with Al­bert Bol­huis as they move up to fifth. Old­field A also recorded a max­i­mum vic­tory, 30-4, against the Bath In­vaders A. Dean Has­kett claimed star player with his team-mates also record­ing max­i­mums to lengthen their league lead over Chip­pen­ham A. Chip­pen­ham B claimed an un­likely win over their A team, 19-17. Chip­pen­ham C also had a tough game los­ing 19-18 to bot­tom placed Bath In­vaders B. Ni­cholas Branch claimed man of the match with nine points for the In­vaders. The fi­nal game was Old­field C’s 25-10 de­feat to Bath­ford B with Josh Kash­dan gain­ing a max­i­mum for the away team. In Di­vi­sion 1 the top two teams both won by large mar­gins. Rad­stock A pro­duced a 30-4 home win against Chip­pen­ham D. Keren Mil­lard led the way with her two teams-mates both gain­ing max­i­mums. Se­cond-placed Key Cen­tre A also had a home win, 29-7 against Old­field D. Brent Pol­lard and Dave Gal­ley got nine points each. Ensleigh A were the other big win­ners of the week with a 27-10 win against Bath­ford C. Ping Zhang and Ian Clark both got max­i­mums, ably sup­ported by Ol­lie New­ton. A Wayne But­ton in­spired Rad­stock B beat Yat­ton Keynell C away 22-15, while Paul Green’s Bear Flat A over­came higher-placed Yat­ton Keynell B 24-16. In Di­vi­sion 2, Old­field E went down 28-9 to Bath­eas­ton A who made it nine wins from nine, with max­i­mums from Nigel Ped­ley and Gary Sar­tain. This leaves a 37-point gap to Key Cen­tre B in se­cond. The Keynsham based side won 24-10 against Bear Flat B; Mark Tan­ner star­ring with nine points. Paul Crocker’s max­i­mum helped third-placed Rad­stock C to a 26-11 away win against Bath­eas­ton B. May­field con­tin­ued their fine form with a 30-6 away win against Ensleigh B; Nigel Wool­ley get­ting man of the match. Young play­ers con­tin­ued to shine with Greg Row­land get­ting nine points in Bath­ford D’s 22-9 win over Chip­pen­ham E. Robert Port­lock’s nine points couldn’t lift his team off the bot­tom as they lost 22-13 to Bear Flat B.
