Man who col­lapsed in car park had heart at­tack

A man who col­lapsed and died in the cen­tre of Bath last month has been named. John Har­g­reaves was 89 and suf­fered a fa­tal heart at­tack, a coro­ner’s of­fi­cer said. The of­fi­cer said it was a death by nat­u­ral causes and that there would be no in­quest. Mr Har­g­reaves col­lapsed near the Podium car park and Hilton ho­tel on Wal­cot Street shortly be­fore noon on De­cem­ber 17. South West­ern Am­bu­lance Ser­vice sent a rapid re­sponse ve­hi­cle and two am­bu­lances to the “med­i­cal emer­gency”. Mem­bers of the pub­lic at­tempted to give CPR. A spokesman for the po­lice said: “We were called by the am­bu­lance ser­vice at 12.46pm. “A man col­lapsed and mem­bers of the pub­lic tried to give him CPR and so did paramedics.” A spokesman for the am­bu­lance ser­vice said: “We were called at 11:47 to re­ports of a med­i­cal emer­gency. “We at­tended with two am­bu­lances and a rapid re­sponse ve­hi­cle.”
