Man who collapsed in car park had heart attack

A man who collapsed and died in the centre of Bath last month has been named. John Hargreaves was 89 and suffered a fatal heart attack, a coroner’s officer said. The officer said it was a death by natural causes and that there would be no inquest. Mr Hargreaves collapsed near the Podium car park and Hilton hotel on Walcot Street shortly before noon on December 17. South Western Ambulance Service sent a rapid response vehicle and two ambulances to the “medical emergency”. Members of the public attempted to give CPR. A spokesman for the police said: “We were called by the ambulance service at 12.46pm. “A man collapsed and members of the public tried to give him CPR and so did paramedics.” A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We were called at 11:47 to reports of a medical emergency. “We attended with two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle.”
