WHAT TO DO THIS WEEK

-

■ IT’S not too late to protect plants from cold weather so make sure any tender plants are either indoors in the conservatory or greenhouse, or wrapped up outside with some hessian or horticultural fleece, inset. ■ If you’re feeling energetic you could do a bit of pruning. Wisteria, which has thrown out long whippy stems, can be clipped back to about two or three buds. ■ IT’S a good idea to check on dahlia and begonia tubers that you are overwintering. Remove anything rotten as that can spread to the others. ■ summer may be a long way off but you could now start sweet peas from seed. If you sowed in autumn, you could be potting them on now.
