Looking for love: Could you provide caring home for these cuties?

- Sam Petherick Chief reporter @sampetherick sam.petherick@reachplc.com

Could you give one of these adorable pets a home? Bath’s leading rehoming centre is looking to find loving new owners for the many cats and dogs in its care. And if you’ve got plenty of time and space, perhaps you would consider one of a trio of dogs who want to stay together wherever they go. Bath Cats and Dogs Home rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes around 2,000 pets each year. The Claverton Down charity takes in pets when their owners can no longer look after them, as well as those unlucky ones subject to cruelty or neglect. It relies on donations to keep running and says 83p in every £1 it receives is spent “directly on caring for and rehoming our animals”. The charity has provided details of three paired pets and nine single animals who all need a new home. Take a look at their pictures in the gallery on these pages and read about their personalities and needs below.

Loved up pets (come as a pair)

Amy and Meg: These best friends are a beautiful pair of three-yearold Yorkshire terrier Xs that are looking for an experienced and patient home, with no other pets. They can live with older teenagers who are happy to take their time getting to know them. Amy and Meg will make a loving addition to an experienced home and would be happy to have a large garden to run in. Jake and Holly: An adorable pair that are looking for an experienced and patient home where someone will be with them all the time. Jake is a seven-year-old Chihuahua and Holly an eight-year-old Yorkshire Tterrier. They are nervous little characters and would be happily rehomed as companion dogs, providing that their new home has a secure garden that they could run around and play in. Holly especially loves chasing tennis balls! They are looking for a home where there is someone in all the time. Rocky and Ruby: Rocky is 14 and Ruby 11 and both are house trained Staffordshire bull terriers, recently

voted the nation’s favourite dog! They are great with people and thoroughly enjoy their cuddles. For this reason they can live with all age children. They only have eyes for each other, and both don’t like other dogs. At their age, they can only do short walks in quiet areas, or are also happy to just have playtimes in the garden. They are fun and will often play tug with a toy together!

Singletons (room for one?)

Toffee: A fast-living hound seeking similar for runs, tumbles and tangles of legs on the sofa. Needs to be rehomed with an owner who has another dog. Registered with the charity as number BD39913. Willow: A shy young lady with stunning looks, searching for a playful friend. Must have own quiet home and sensitive owners. BD40345. Leela: A mature lady that seeks affectionate and comfortable human for cuddles, must have cosy home. BD39639. Neville: a big lad with a big heart looking for someone to rub my belly. Must be into wrinkles and slobber. BD39572. Skye: Love tennis balls? Me too! Looking for my forever Play Fetch partner who is also into lap cuddles. BD0121 Victor: A refined gent who seeks affectionate human for ear tickles, and maybe more (that is, lap cuddles). BC40685. Tiger: Naughty tortie? Perhaps in my youth, but now I’m hoping to settle down with the one. BC40728. Smokey: They say I’m young but they don’t know... I’m ready to settle, I just need to find a human to share my world with. BC40707. Ellie: An old lady who wants a country home. BC39474.

About the charity

Every year the charity rehomes 800 cats, 600 dogs and hundreds of small animals - but it’s always full. Animals come to Bath Cats and Dogs Home for all sorts of reasons - such as illness, their owner can’t afford to keep them, they’ve strayed or they’ve not been claimed. Some are subject to cruelty and neglect, and some are just not wanted. In its vet suite, experts carry out around 25 check-ups and six surgeries on poorly animals a day. The charity says 83p in every £1 it receives is spent “directly on caring for and rehoming our animals”. It needs to raise £1.4 million a year to run.
