Larkhall secure win at play-off hopefuls

Larkhall Athletic put a dent into the promotion prospects of AFC Totton as they secured a 2-1 win in Hampshire. Alex Lambert shot Larks into the lead midway through the first period, though Oliver Bradley levelled for Totton shortly after the interval. However, they were not to be denied victory as Lewis Powell nodded in the winner from a corner. Athletic were not able to repeat the feat, however, against another play-off chasing outfit in Cirenceste­r Town on Tuesday night. The Gloucester­shire side went 2-0 up before Powell pulled one back, only for Cirenceste­r to net twice more after the break for a 4-1 triumph.

Bitton continued their push for promotion with a strong 3-0 triumph against Buckland Athletic. Dean Griffiths, Matthew Groves and substitute Ben Bament were all on target for Dan Langdon’s Ton, who received further good news after the final whistle when word filtered through of leaders Willand Rovers’ defeat to Plymouth Parkway. Bitton sit third, four points behind Willand with two games in hand. Bradford Town’s trip to Cribbs ended in a 2-1 defeat. Will Hailstone put the Bobcats into a 20th-minute lead, but a thunderous equaliser from Matthew Spiller. And it was another stunning goal which won the day for the Bristol hosts, Sam Oakley finding the net this time. To compound matters for Bradford, Dan Cottle was sent off for a second yellow card in second-half injury time. Odd Down also lost out 2-1 against struggling Hengrove Athletic, who found a double for Jack Fillingham. George Lloyd pulled one back in the 93rd minute but it was too late for Down to complete a comeback point. In the First Division, Corsham Town caused a stir by besting Chard Town 3-0. Josh Bright struck twice for Town, with Alistair Mayoh joining him on the scoresheet. Meanwhile, Keynsham Town maintained their run at top spot with a 1-0 triumph against Radstock Town. Matthew Martin grabbed the only goal six minutes before the break to keep the Ks within touching distance of leaders Cheddar.

Ed Searle was on target twice as Fry Club won 2-1 at Stockwood Wanderers to eep their Premier Division title chase going. Elsewhere, Odd Down Reserves picked up only their second point of the season with a 2-2 draw at Nailsea United, with Alfie Mahon and Rene Adigbo netting. There were three braces as Timsbury Athletic crushed Yatton & Cleeve United 6-2 in Division 1. Rhys Cook, Jem Lutwama and Ellis Hancock - who would later receive a straight red card - bagged Athletic’s goals. Keynsham Town Reserves won by the odd goal in seven away to Staplegrov­e. Sam Black, Aaron Osbourne, Mitchel Gerrish and substitute Harry Crew were responsibl­e for their goals. Mendip Broadwalk eased past Saltford with a 4-1 victory on home soil. In Division 2, Peasedown Miners Welfare drew 2-2 at ten-man Castle Cary, while Fry Club Reserves were beaten 4-1 at Radstock Town Reserves, James Phillips scoring the consolatio­n. Tunley Athletic lost 9-0 at Hutton in Division 3. Daniel Lardner scored twice as Corsham Town Reserves thrashed Cricklade Town 5-0 in the Wiltshire League. Jake Dodge, Thomas Harvey and Nathan Phillimore completed the rout.

Keynsham Town Ladies secured their placed in the county cup final with a 3-0 win at Larkhall Athletic Ladies. Kerry Bartlett and Laura Williams had them 2-0 up by half-time, with Kirsten Rendall adding the third late on.
