Shock as video shows attack on girl in shop

A shocking video of a girl being brutally attacked in a Bath book store has caused an appalled reaction on social media.

Many people have asked where security was and why nobody intervened to stop the attack.

The incident took place at around 5.45pm in Whsmith in Bath city centre on Thursday, February 14.

A video posted online, inset, shows at least four girls involved in the assault and many others witnessing it.

Avon and Somerset police described the incident as “totally unacceptable”.

On social media, Laura Huggins said: “Shame on the people just stood there watching!”

While Diane Short said: “Vileness - no-one even tried to stop it!”

Others focussed on the apparent absence of security staff.

Avon and Somerset police has appealed for witnesses and said: “We’re investigating after a teenage girl was assaulted in a shop on Union Street, Bath. The incident happened at approximately 5.45pm on Thursday, February 14.

“The victim thankfully only sustained minor injuries in the incident.”
