Grandstand plan for club
Bath City FC has officially unveiled its new plans for Twerton Park stadium and Twerton High Street.
Alongside its development partners Greenacre Capital, the club is hoping to make dramatic changes to the area, including a new grandstand for the football ground, a gym, a 3G football pitch, a community hub and new housing.
Bath City FC chairman John Reynolds said the plans will benefit businesses and the community, and give sports opportunities for children.
The plans include: New grandstand Community hub and sports bar Affordable housing Student accommodation Co-living apartments
Refurbished residential and retail units
New public square Improved pedestrian/cycle access
3G football pitch Bath City FC proposed the extensive plans to secure its financial future and its future in Twerton.
The club became communityowned two years ago, and is hoping that its new plans can benefit the whole community.
Club director John Reynolds, who was “born and bred” in Twerton, says the club isn’t just preparing for the short term, but wants to help the community in the long term as well.
He said: “This isn’t about what we’re going to achieve in the next two to three years, it’s about what we’ll be doing for the next 40 to 50 years.
“I love the people here, and what better than to have a community club in Twerton?”
“The new 3G pitch will give opportunities for the younger kids to have somewhere new to play, and it’ll give opportunities for summer camps. Let’s get the kids off the streets.
“Children will come here, their parents will come along, and they’ll be back. We’ll get our local atmosphere like it used to be, and businesses will benefit because people will be using the pitch six or seven days a week.”
Public consultations on the new plans are ongoing in Twerton.
