The sun shines as hundreds tackle annual Rugby Walk

-

Around 550 people took part in this year’s Bath Rugby Walk.

The walkers were blessed with a very warm, sunny Saturday as they took on the two-hour, eight-mile walk along the Kennet and Avon canal path.

Last year Dorothy House and Bath Rugby Foundation raised £56,000 between them and they hope to beat that amount this year.

The walkers began at Dorothy House and stopped in Bathampton for refreshments at the Field Good Bar. They donated £1 to the two charities from every pint. The Rotary Club of Devizes kindly volunteered to provide hot food to walkers at the start at the hospice in Winsley and donated all profits to the two charities after covering their costs.

The speeches and countdown to the start of the walk were led by Bob Crampton, a former ITV weather presenter. He was joined by Jo Muir, a modern pentathlete, and Heather Fell, a former British modern pentathlete turned triathlete.
