Early strike enough to see Larkhall lose

Larkhall Athletic were beaten by a single goal at home to Evesham United. Kane Simpson’s strike after just six minutes was enough to see Evesham claim the the points.

■ TOOLSTATIO­N LEAGUE - Bitton are now just one point behind Willand in the chase for the Western League title after beating Shepton Mallet 3-1.

The visitors got off to the worst possible start, and found themselves behind in just the eighth minute when James Billing headed home from close range. It didn’t take long for Bitton to hit their straps, and after Kane Ingram levelled things with a well taken free kick, Joe Mclennan and Aysa Corrick then scored in the lead up to half-time as Bitton extended their winning run in all competitio­ns to ten matches.

The fixture between Bradford and Odd Down ended goalless at Trowbridge Road.

Keynsham jumped past the inactive Division One leaders Cheddar into top spot after sneaking past Bishops Lydeard by one goal to nil. The all-important goal came 13 minutes from time at Cothelston­e Road, with Craig Wilson striking for the K’s, but the game was overshadow­ed by a bad looking injury to new signing Jake Miller late on which the current league leaders will be hoping isn’t as bad as first feared.

Just like one week ago, many of the top sides struggled to register victories, with Keynsham the only member of the top seven to secure three points.

■ SOMERSET LEAGUE - Odd Down Reserves picked up just their third point of a campaign with a 2-2 draw at home to fifth-placed Worle. Fry Club were without a game and dropped to third as Chilcompto­n Sports beat Watchet Town 1-0 to go level with Nailsea & Tickenham on 45 points.

In Division One, Timsbury Athletic hit struggling Wells City Reserves for six. That keeps them seven points off the top with a game in hand on leader Mendip Broadkwalk. Keynsham Town Reserves

remain a point above Timsbury after they saw off Winscombe 4-2.

In a congested division, Saltford

have fallen to now be a point being Timsbury after only managing a 1-1 draw at home to Nailsea & Tickenham Reserves. Peasedown Miners Welfare suffered a 3-1 defeat away at Ashton & Backwell Reserves in Division Two. Fry Club Reserves were also beaten, 3-2 at Brislingto­n Reserves.

In Division Three, Tunley Athletic managed to move up to 13th, courtesy of a win against bottom club Cutters Friday on their travels.

WILTSHIRE LEAGUE - Corsham Town Reserves ran riot against second bottom Devizes Town Reserves, coming away 7-0 victors.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL - Larkhall Athletic Ladies were beaten 2-0 by Cheltenham Town Ladies in FA Women’s National League Division One South West.
