Hinton winners of league

-

In the hope of Hinton Charterhouse messing their season up, Blue Storm managed to score a full 12 points. They registered an unexpected 101 whilst only losing two wickets. Joe De Sousa scored 26 not out and Max Sellick 25 not out. Adrian Boreham was economical with 0-5 in his two overs. They then bowled The Stars’ strong batting line-up out for 59, before a batting point could be won. Tom Proctor bowled a maiden over and Shreyas Malhorta took the last two wickets for 3 in the ninth over. In a friendly competitive match, Hampset won the toss and opted to field. Will Andrews retired on 27 and Will Durrant out, hit roof, on 25, just before he could retire. They were gifted 53 extras to enable a target of 124-4 to be set. Hampset batted doggedly, but could never score freely, so they fell short by 42 runs. Madi Bond retired on 25 and Sam Williams took 1-10. Hinton Charterhouse started their game knowing they needed just one point to win the league, and that was all they achieved. They won the toss and decided to bat against an improved Frome bowling attack. The early batsmen found it difficult to score, losing their wickets regularly. Ultimately they could only set 59-5, with captain, Hugh Brooker, top-scoring. Andy Veal took 2-8 and Neil Dredge 1-9. In reply, Frome were able to bat patiently to secure the win, with 603, in exactly eight overs, despite some good fielding from Hinton. James Unwin retired on 25, having hit two sixes. In their first season, Frome adapted quickly to the indoor conditions, declaring they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
