■ Approach Golf club Sue Norris ensured that she retained her Division One status with a convincing win over Alasdair Campbell, leaving him languishing one point above the drop, having played all his fixtures with the bottom two with a game left to play. Campbell fought hard on the second nine, but the determined Norris went on to win with four holes remaining. Brian Lambern and Roger Randall engaged in a very close contest in Division Two, with Lambern halving the final hole for a last gap win, leaving the unlucky Randall pointless. Randall’s good start gave him an early two hole lead, but Lambern had struck back by the turn to steal it. On the second nine, Randall roared back to go two up with five to play, only for Lambern to play his best golf to edge ahead on the 17th and hold on for the win. Bob Mcgregor is now well poised to challenge for the championship and promotion after another convincing win over Craig Jones. Mcgregor was sharp from the off, winning the first four holes, with two birdies, to reach the turn six up, and raced to victory with five holes remaining. He then moved to the top after defeating current leader Graham Whatley. Mcgregor always had the edge to lead by two at the turn and although Whatley halved the deficit with a birdie on the tenth, Mcgregor won three holes in a row to win on the 15th. Danny Peel reached the semi finals of the League Cup with a comfortable win over Reg Morris, completing victory on the 16th. Malcolm French’s net par round helped him qualify for the quarter finals at the expense of Sue Norris, who had held French at bay until the 17th. Mike Fear went through to the semi finals of the KO Cup after beating Malcolm French who faded towards the end. After leading at the turn, French won the first two holes coming back to win on the 16th. Craig Jones turned a disappointing season into one of promise after a splendid victory over Danny Peel to reach the final, prevailing on the 14th. Reg Morris surprisingly gained a narrow Group C victory in the Secretary’s Cup over Nick Parker to head the group. ■ bath Golf club Bath Golf Club Ladies’ section held a twelve hole NQ stableford at the end of February in the glorious Spring weather with a total number of 44 entries In the First Division, Angie Frith was first with 25 points, followed by Angela Trenchard (lady captain) on 23 points.
