Quest to replace lost painting of waves

- Contact: suelmes@hotmail.co.uk

Wanted: picture or print of Ed Mandon’s Tumbling Waves. This picture got lost in a house move and I want to find another one. Willing to buy and collect anywhere.

In response to Wera Hobhouse’s comments about the latest vandal rampage across Bath (“We need a proper police station in Bath so vandals don’t think that they can get away with this disgraceful behaviour), I would point out to our MP that this is just the tip of the iceberg. A police station without police officers is a total no-brainer and now that the Treasury, according to Philip (Mr Personality By-pass) Hammond, has a £14.9 billion surplus, much of this must be used to put bobbies back on the beat. Let’s go back to the old days, when policemen were frequently recruited from the Armed Forces, stood a minimum of 5’ 8” and simply got on with the job in hand. The rampaging louts referred to in the latest bout of vandalism are, in my book, scum of the earth but the problems frequently begin at home, where so-called parental-control is non-existent and these knuckle-dragging morons are free to run riot. Perhaps we also need to bring back transportation, prison hulks and hard labour but in this age of snow-flakes, ‘uman rights, ‘elf ‘n’ safety and fair-play for all, don’t hold your breath - and don’t even begin to think that our lamentable politicians will do anything radical to counter the scourge of mindless vandalism and mayhem blighting this once respected country. The country I once loved and admired, is now a global laughing stock and getting worse by the day. I have never been a supporter of the Police and Crime Commissioner role and feel Sue Mountstevens has been totally out of her depth but at least a new candidate, Cllr Mark Shelford (Con), is a military veteran of 32 years and, for this reason alone, I wish him well. Let’s get really tough on crime and hit these vandals where it hurts - and I do mean ‘hurt!.’ Bryan Chalker (ex-pc) Claverton Down
