The support acts for the Bath Festival finale weekend have been announced.

Corinne Bailey Rae and Mabel will support headliners Clean Bandit and Van Morrison on the Rec across the June 1-2 weekend.

Festival organisers said the success of the first-ever finale weekend in 2018 prompted them to hold it for a second time.

It falls after 10 consecutive days of the Bath Festival, which comprises more than 120 music and literature events from Friday, May 17 and until Sunday, May 26.

Tickets are on sale for all of these, and the musical finale.

These are the acts that have been confirmed.

Saturday

Clean Bandit, the band behind four Number 1 UK singles which was recently nominated for two Brit awards, headline the Main Stage on Saturday, June 1.

Supporting them is rising star, 20-year-old singer Mabel, who was

recently shortlisted for breakthrough artist at the Brit awards.

Festival goers will also get to see Bristol-based rapper and actor Raleigh Ritchie, who is also familiar to Game of Thrones fans for his role as Grey Worm.

Opening the party on the main stage will be London’s hottest new soul, jazz and R&B singer Jaz Karis.

Sunday

Topping the bill on Sunday is Van Morrison, the singer-songwriter who has been delighting audiences across the world for five decades.

He recently released his 40th stu-

dio album, coinciding with a series of shows in the US.

He’ll be supported by Corinne Bailey Rae, whose global hits Put Your Records On and Like A Star are great crowd pleasers, Irish rock band Hothouse Flowers and the classic soul and funk of MF Robots.

Big top stage

On the Big Top stage music fans will be offered an eclectic mix of acts.

Saturday: Balcony, who played Boardmasters last summer and push the boundaries of dark pop and future wave R&B Little Thief, a three-piece from Bristol reminiscent of The Black Keys and Queens of the Stone Age, who were invited to perform on BBC2’S flagship music programme Later with Jools Holland last year.

Sunday: Sheffield-based Renegade Brass Band who have established themselves as the country’s premier hip-hop brass band outfits, The Desert, a Bristol based trip-hop outfit; Michael Clark, an emerging singer/songwriter whose folk output is a masterclass in the power of simplicity; Tom Speight, a singer/songwriter from London whose work blends elements of folk and contemporary pop who has amassed over 43 million combined streams on Spotify alone.

There will be further announcements on additions to the line-up in the coming weeks.

Last summer’s first Bath Festival finale weekend held on Bath’s Recreation Ground saw performances from stars including Paloma Faith, Sophie Ellis-bextor, Robert Plant and Midge Ure.

The success of that event prompted Bath Festivals and promoters Orchard Live to announce a second finale weekend for 2019.
