Staff bid to have CPR lifesaver at every firm

-

The Mayor of Bath joined Nationwide Building Society employees who have been running training sessions in the lifesaving CPR technique for staff in local businesses.

Councillor Patrick AnketellJones took part in the Bath Business Improvement District (BID) scheme which has teamed up with the Nationwide to get at least one person at every business in Bath trained in CPR.

Two customer representatives who work at the Nationwide Bath branch on Union Street, Kirsty Marsh and Daisy Burr, were trained as CPR facilitators in 2016 as part of the building society’s Uk-wide programme for employees.

The pair have now been able to pass on their knowledge and expertise to others in the Bath area.

As part of a partnership with the Bath BID, the Nationwide branch is holding a series of training events for local businesses, with the aim to train one employee from every business to be able to confidently deliver CPR.

In addition to the training, the Bath branch has received a grant from Nationwide to install a defibrillator, which should be installed this spring.

Kirsty said: “We’re really pleased to have received a grant which has enabled us to buy a defibrillator, the first one on the area.

“Before the Uk-wide CPR programme back in 2016 I’d never thought about training in CPR, but now I’m trained in help others pick up the skills which feels so rewarding. It’s also great to have the space in branch to use for sessions.”

Stephanie Pritchard, Nationwide Bath branch manager, said: ‘We’ve recently moved into new premises here on Union Street with a great new community area where we can hold training and local sessions.

“We’re passionate about helping the community, and with Kirsty and Daisy as CPR facilitators I’m pleased we are able to pass these lifesaving skills on.”

The next CPR training session at the Nationwide branch in Bath will take place on Thursday, March 28, at 5.30pm.
