Sutton claims BUCS crown
University of Bath students won t-eam gold and there were individ ual medals for Bradley Sutton and Olivia Green when they competed a-t the 2019 BUCS [British Universi ties & Colleges Sport] Pentathlon Championships in Oxford.
Sutton was runner-up in the men’s competition for a second successive year, only pipped to gold b-y eight points by Cambridge Uni versity’s Henry Choong, brother of R-io 2016 Olympian and Bath grad uate Joe.
Green was a bronze-medallist in the women’s competition behind Pentathlon GB’S Kerenza Bryson and graduate Eilidh Prise, who is now a postgraduate at University of Aberdeen.
Sutton and Green scored 1,333 and 1,277 points respectively which, added to a 1,190 point haul from Montgomery Podger after his seventh-placed finish in the men’s event, saw Bath finish well clear of the field in the team competition.
G-eorgia Hannam, who is sup ported by a Santander Sports Scholarship, failed to score in the ride but still finished a fine ninth in the women’s competition.
T-he BUCS Biathlon Champion ships, featuring a swim and run, also took place over the weekend and saw Sarah-jane Walker win a silver medal in the women’s event.
