Concert pays tribute to club

-

A- musical movement paying trib ute to Bath Rugby will feature in a concert played by hundreds of pupils.

A Tale of One City is a 15-minute suite commissioned by the Bath Society of Young Musicians (BSYM), composed by Mike Mower, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of BSYM.

More than 200 children will be i-nvolved in two concerts on Sun day, March 24, including students from St Mark’s, King Edward’s, B-eechen Cliff, Ralph Allen, Old f-ield, Prior Park, Wellsway, St Greg ory’s, Chew Valley, Kingswood, Hayesfield, Norton Hill, Bristol Cathedral and Writhlington schools.

The third movement - ‘Rugby!’ - is about Bath’s contemporary involvement with the sport, namely Bath Rugby.

It will be introduced by Bath Academy winger Levi Davis, pictured above, who is also a student at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute in Bristol.

The singer is working on an EP, which he is hoping to release in the Summer, and has an upcoming gig at Walcot House in Bath.

A BSYM spokesperson said: “The t-hird movement hails the integra tion of the famous club with the city and how it brings contempo rary notoriety and fame to Bath.

“The piece is scored for orchestra and choir, swapping between chanted and sung music, with a c-atchy anthem-like chorus sand wiched between the exciting story of a rugby match and, of course, a try.

The concerts - starting at 4pm and 7pm - will be held the Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon. For more, visit wiltshiremusic.org.
