Warning not to park on roads during works

-

Road closures are planned in Bath next month while a mile of highway is replaced.

Bath and North East Somerset Council has warned motorists not to leave cars on the routes in the Twerton area during the roadworks as they could be towed away.

Routes in Twerton, Southdown and Oldfield Park will all be closed between 7am and 7pm and parking suspended so maintenance teams can carry out work.

The council says residents have already been notified and asked to remove vehicles. Several bus routes will also be affected.

In total, a mile of road surface will be replaced in Monksdale Road, Beckhampton Road/oldfield Lane, Dartmouth Avenue/ Millmead Road (including the Lyndhurst Road Junction) and Lymore Avenue.

The work is scheduled to take place as follows:

■ July 8 onwards: Monksdale Road, Moorlands.

■ July 8 onwards: Beckhampton Road and Oldfield Lane, Oldfield Park.

■ July 15 onwards: Dartmouth Avenue and Millmead Road including the Lyndhurst Road Junction, Twerton.

■ July 15 onwards: Lymore Avenue, Twerton.

Councillor Neil Butters said: “People living in these areas will be fully aware of the condition of the roads and the fact they need substantial repairs.

“Once completed residents will benefit from a smoother and less noisy road surface.”

During the Monksdale Road and Beckampton Road works bus service 8 will not run in the Oldfield Park area or Hillside Road/ Cotswold Road (diverting via Bear Flat). During the Lymore Avenue works services 12 , 20, R2 and U2 will be diverted. Service 12 will also divert when Dartmouth Road/ Millmead Road is closed.

Details will be posted on affected bus stops, or got to https://travelwest.info/travelupdates#bath.
