Radstock romp to get new Bath League going

-

■ BATH & DISTRICT Radstock Albion triumphed 7-1 over Griffin to start the new season in the First Division.

Two new sides to the division and Albion showed their intent from day one.

A brace from both Charlie Myrie and Curtis Dunn, then one goal each from Cam New, Connor Hall and Tyler Matthews, made a magnificent seven for Albion, while Griffin could only manage to break down a dominant looking side once.

Reigning Somerset and Tom Morgan Cup champions Bath United also scored seven, beating the renamed Old Bank 7-3.

A hat-trick from Chris Spurrey was added to by Tommy Paget (2), Liddiard and King both getting their name on scoresheet too.

Kingsmead met Pig & Fiddle in a nine goal thriller which finished 5-4 to Kings.

Wych scored twice for the home side which was made even better when Parsons, Dolman and Conradi all got goals, but Smith and Inglis both grabbed a brace to make a real game of it, but still Pig couldn’t grab a point.

Heritage took the three points when they met BAS, winning 5-3. Jac Humphreys grabbed a hat-trick, with Lawson and Taylor the other two scorers for the home side, cancelling goals from Rudland, Jones and Sheppard for the away team.

FC Trinity lost 5-3 to Claverton Park in the final fixture of the opening weekend in Division 1.

Ball (2) and Long scored for the home side but Escott (2), Sharples, Adams and Golledge made the difference.

New Bath & District side Fox and Hounds got off to a flier in Division 2 by thrashing Welton Rangers 10-1.

Kearney scored for Rangers but it meant little.

The Fox scorers were Stokes, Christopher and Shuttlewood all with a brace each, with Woodward, Skinner, Eglin and Hitchcock all getting in on the act to make a thumping ten.

Six goals at the Lew Hill memorial between Odd Down Reserves and Team Nathan couldn’t separate the teams as goals for the home team from Scotty Newton, Tyler Davis and Felipe Torres were matched by good strikes from Brad Weeks, Brad Blackmore and Tom Rosevear.

A game with a bit of everything and a draw was probably a fair result.

Bear Flat grabbed a 3-2 win against Two Weir, with Reynolds, Basson and Pattermore all scoring to do the damage.

Secretary Cup champions Lansdown lost their opening fixture 3-1 to Brew House. A brace from Pippard and one from Sandler made up the tally for the away team.

And Farrington 2-1 Olympic Victoria, was the last result in a busy weekend.
