Kingsmead a different class

-

The Bath & Sunday District League got back underway this weekend and although the wind was still prevalent, it wasn’t as wet around the grounds.

Kingsmead showed a different class by walloping Claverton Down 9-1, with goals from Parsons (3), Macdonald (3), Dolman (1), Keen (1) and Ifill (1), while Witts grabbed the consolation for Down. This puts Kingsmead second in Division One but with three games in hand on leaders BAS.

It was a morning to remember at the Lew Hill Memorial Ground for Odd Down as Rudland grabbed a brace, Kyle Norris got a hat-trick and a Newton strike helped to see off Old Bank 6-2. Bath United travelled to Pig & Fiddle but were sent back highly disappointed after losing 4-2.

A brace from Spurrey wasn’t enough as the Pigs won with an own goal, Curnock, Inglis and Smith all scoring.

A feisty encounter between Radwere stock Albion and BAS finished all square, Davies netted for the home side while New scored against his old team in the 1-1 draw.

In Division two, Team Nathan cemented top spot for now. Hosted by Two Weir Town, Nathan won 8-3 in a very entertaining fixture. A hattrick from Andy Marks was increased with both Harwood and Rowlands netting a brace and Eames scoring his first for the club.

A Stokes double and an own goal was enough for the travelling Fox & Hounds to keep the chase on at the top, beating Bear Flat 3-1.

Bath Brew House welcomed Farrington Albion in what turned out to be an exciting seven goal thriller just edged by the travelling Albion 4-3. A Rawlings brace was added to by Swift and Whitfield.

Goals from Clark and Davis sent Odd Down Reserves home happy in a 2-0 win over Lansdown, while Bath Spartans claimed three points over Welton without kicking a ball as they could not field a side.
