Chadwick earns Asian F3 victory

-

Defending W Series champion Jamie Chadwick concluded her winter preparation with strong finishes in the final back-to-back rounds of the Asian Formula 3 Championship, including a maiden win in the penultimate race in Thailand.

Bath-born Chadwick finished fourth in the overall standings, the highest finish for Absolute Racing, with a points finish in every race across the five rounds.

The next three months will see Chadwick drive the Jaguar Formula E car in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship ‘rookie’ test in Marrakesh across March 2-3, and begin the defence of her W Series crown in May alongside her commitments to Rokit Williams F1 and Aston Martin Racing.

Chadwick said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed coming out here for Asian F3, and it has been very valuable for my pre-season preparation. I sensed my fitness and my racing getting stronger with each round. It is very competitive at the front, and learning the importance of tyre management throughout the series made it tactical and, often, quite demanding.

“There has been a lot of close racing with more overtaking than you often see in single-seaters. I have a busy year ahead, but very pleased with the latter part of this series, which I see as a platform for further progress.

“I am confident that W Series will go from strength to strength. It achieved a huge amount in its first year, and it is an important asset in highlighting female talent in a male-dominated sport, whilst also providing a fresh and entertaining approach to the sport.

“Motorsport should never be segregated, and the best W Series drivers have, and will, compete against, and beat, the best male drivers in other series, as I hope I have demonstrated here.”
