Rugby walk kick-off delayed after Six Nations change

Times for this weekend’s Bath Rugby Walk have changed after the coronaviru­s forced changes to the Six Nations schedule.

The walk will begin later than planned, following the cancellati­on of the Ireland v Italy match. Registrati­on now opens at 11.30am with the walk starting at 1pm.

The annual event, which raises vital funds for Dorothy House Hospice Care and Bath Rugby Foundation, takes place on Saturday (March 7) and Bath Rugby supporters are being invited to take part.

This year’s walk will again follow the Kennet and Avon canal path route between the two charities, starting at Dorothy House’s Winsley base at 1pm and ending at the home of Bath Rugby in Bath city centre.

Walkers will can enjoy a wellearned drink and a pie at the Rec while watching England take on Wales in the Six Nations at 4.45pm.

Men and women aged 12 years and over are invited to take part.

Lynne Fernquest, CEO of Bath Rugby Foundation, said: “We’re all really looking forward to seeing so many walkers take to the canal path on Saturday. The Bath Rugby Walk is always a wonderful occasion, with so many people turning out to help raise vital funds for two local charities.”

Entry is £25 for men and women aged 18 and over. For children aged 12-17 and students with a NUS Card the cost is £17.50. Sign up to take part at www.bathrugbyw­alk.org.uk.
