Join starting line-up of bands vying for Bath Half first place

-

You could perform in front of thousands at the Bath Half as part of the Battle of the Bands competition.

For the past four years local bands have taken to the city’s streets, adding to the entertainment of the half marathon by performing around the course as racers pass by.

Runners vote for their favourite band with the winners receiving a prize of £500. 2019’s winner was Drumcan, a high energy drummer playing up-beat electronic and drum & bass hits.

Drumcan said: “Having taken part in the Bath Half in 2016, the thing that struck me most was how much energy and atmosphere the bands provide.

“Since then I have applied to take part in the Battle of the Bands competition every year, so naturally I was really excited to be given the chance in 2019.

“Winning the competition – and the £500 - was really special!”

Race Director, Andrew Taylor said: “Our local musicians play an extremely important role in the race, as they create a tremendous atmosphere both for the runners and the spectators.”

To take part in the 2020 Battle of the Bands competition, bands must register interest by sending an email to admin@runninghigh.co.uk and preferably with a link to some short video footage online.

The Bath Half takes place on Sunday, March 15. Further details of the event course can be found at www. bathhalf.co.uk.
