It’s time for you to change, Mr Burns
Response to P Burns 13/2. Mr Burns, the right to protest is a democratic right - not when you say so or because you disagree with the issue. Our laws allow for demonstrations.
Why are you obsessed with the activism of XR? Is it because you don’t see the need or want to take personal responsibility for the real position we are all in?
You might be ‘alright Jack’ because we live in comparative wealth in Northern Europe; your house is not flooded, nor is it likely to disappear into the sea, you have all the food you need, no crop failure or famine worries, you have been able to drive wherever and whenever you like, your grandchildren are not being suffocated on the streets of towns and cities.
For most intelligent people the argument and evidence is enough for us to accept the need to change the way we live, and do it now!
XR is leading the narrative and bringing these important issues to the fore and in our classrooms, young people will have to deal with the apathy of their parents and others. I might suggest you stop bangin’ on about XR and what our MP is going to do.
Why don’t you do something? Start with the man in the mirror. You make a change! Steve Sharp By email
