Stage set for actors, writers and producers to network
The first networking group for Bath’s theatre and film talent has been set up.
Knowing that collaboration is critical, scriptwriter Suzanna Cardash has set up a new networking company for everyone studying or working in the performing arts.
Suzanna is the former creative director of The Advertising Shop and still a copywriter and editor at Zanna C.
Scriptwriters Bath & Co (SB&CO) is for playwrights, screenwriters, actors, filmmakers and/or theatrical producers at any stage of their career.
Until Monday, March 16, scriptwriters are invited to submit excerpts of their work for the inaugural SB&CO Networking and Scratch Night on Tuesday, March 24 . You must be over 18 and able to attend the event in central Bath.
Suzanna said: “Scriptwriters used to go to Bristol or London for these. Now they’ll take place in Bath every month. We’re so lucky to have found The Elder Rooms at the Huntsman - it’s a beautiful venue. I’ve started auditioning and have assembled a brilliant team to read and select the best scripts. Each month there will be a theme.
“If yours is chosen, it’ll be read aloud at night by SB&CO actors, then workshopped by audience members. It’s a great way to get your work recognised, learn how to make it even better, and meet new contacts.”
Others may prefer the delicious luxury of a peaceful SB&CO One-day Writing Retreat.
These are also open to novelists, poets or any creative writers who’d like to escape and write without distractions, and enjoy breakfast and lunch with likeminded people. The first is on
Wednesday, April 29.
Suzanna said: “We’re all really excited about getting to know other people in the industry at Scriptwriters Bath & Co events. We’re also starting to think about weekend retreats in the country. How lovely would that be?”
Tickets for Scratch Nights and Writing Retreats are available at www.scriptwritersbath.co.uk.
