Top sides in eight-goal thriller

-

With most games falling foul to storm Jorge at the weekend, there were still two from the second tier of the Bath & District League that survived the horrid conditions.

A top of the table clash that didn’t disappoint the neutrals as Olympic Victoria and Team Nathan shared the points in an eight-goal thriller. After dominating the opening stages, Nathan opened the scoring with a lovely long ball from Marks to Jack Rowlands who made it look easy by lobbing the keeper from long range.

Vics then found their feet, responding quickly through Linford-wood who levelled it up with a clever header at the back post. The home side then completed the turnaround from a stunning freekick courtesy of Prates Pereira.

The second half was very open early on and Vics took full advan4-1 tage with another thumping freekick in the top corner from Pereira. Nathan made some changes and reshaped and skipper Jordan Bradbury began the fight-back, breaking through one-on-one and rolling past the keeper for 3-2.

Super-sub Brad Blackmore scored twice in quick succession with his weaker foot to turn the game on its head with only minutes remaining. But Linford-wood broke Nathan hearts with another header a to make it 4-4.

In the other fixture, Fox & Hounds edged a 1-0 over visitors Lansdown, who were unfortunate to make the long trip to Warminster and come home empty handed, all thanks to a scuffed scrappy goal from Shuttlewood.

Hounds go level on points with Team Nathan at the top, who have a game in hand.
