Bath scientist scoops physics gold
A Bath physicist has taken home a gold medal after presenting his research in the Houses of Parliament.
Dr Lui Terry, 31, a postdoctoral researcher from Bath walked away with a £2,000 prize and medal at STEM for BRITAIN last week.
Dr Terry undertook a masters degree in chemistry, followed by a PHD in nanomaterials at Bristol University, where he now works as a researcher. He presented his research to dozens of politicians and a panel of expert judges in what is the only national competition of its kind for early-career scientists. Dr Terry’s research involves utilising the effects of nanoconfinement on hydrogen. It could provide the answer to extremely compact storage of hydrogen fuel for vehicles and power generators. He said the award was a real honour and he was delighted to win.
